Abstract

Green nanotechnology represents a novel approach to the treatment of plant pathogens, overcoming specific limitations of conventional methods associated with excessive pesticide use. The chapter reviews the synthesis and characterization of green nanomaterials, focusing on biological approaches that utilize plants, microorganisms, and ecologically friendly solvents. Antimicrobial mechanisms of functionalized nanoparticles via Reactive Oxidative Species (ROS), membrane disruption, and metal ion release. Agricultural applications comprise the nanopesticides for delivery to specific sites, nanofertilizers for improved nutrient absorption and disease resistance, as well as nanosensors. Despite the potential for a myriad of benefits, such as reduced environmental impact and increased efficiency, issues relating to safety, regulation, and scalability continue to provide formidable challenges. In addition, this chapter points out the ability of green nanotechnology as sustainable agricultural technology for more effective and efficient strategies in plant protection and productivity enhancement.
