Abstract

In this informatics age, the world is progressive towards digitalization. In contrary to this, there is a revolutionary transformation of robotic application in the field of healthcare system. Robotic process automation (RPA) is a new era technique to reduce recurrent process from individuals’ regulatory tasks. RPA is a combination of diverse techniques that merge their technicality with emerging speed in the process. RPA transforms the robotic application to streamline the supply of disinfection, instrumental assistance, and surgical procedures to basically provide ease of task and optimize the time limits. As the evolvement of technology enhances, most robots are autonomous in function and perform the entire task as per their functionality design. As a result, healthcare professionals have more time to spend directly on patient care. In today’s scenario, every healthcare organization wants to reduce clinical expenses, work time, and enhance work efficacy as the number of patients is increasing, which somehow affects the quality of service for patients. So, RPA shows major contribution by using automatic robotic technique to enhance the quality time for patients and healthcare staff; also, it is an appropriate solution for various tasks in complex and harsh environment like the COVID pandemic. This chapter delves into the basic concept of RPA, its importance in the healthcare system, its comparison to previous technology used, and recent trends in RPA in the healthcare system.
