Abstract

Quantum computing (QC) is gaining momentum as a new generation technology that can solve intricate problems much more quickly than conventional computing technologies. In medical imaging, with data volumes growing at a rapid pace and accuracy being critical, QC brings accelerated processing, enhanced image analysis, and more intelligent diagnostic tools within reach. This chapter delves into the ways that quantum technologies intersect with medical imaging, gaining insights from recent research. It defines the challenges encountered in real-world applications and the potential advantages that QC might offer to the medical field. Though much of the research is experimental, its potential for designing the future of diagnostics within the medical field is considerable.
