Abstract

The continuous progress in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) has brought profound changes to communication technologies. These innovations provide effective tools to overcome critical issues such as spectrum allocation, security breaches, traffic management, and adaptive network design. This chapter investigates how AI and ML are embedded into wireless communication environments, focusing on key applications such as intelligent traffic forecasting, deep learning-based signal processing, anomaly detection for security enhancement, and reinforcement learning for dynamic resource allocation. Through mathematical modeling, empirical studies, and real-world implementations, we analyze how AI-driven approaches enhance performance metrics such as throughput, latency, and reliability. Additionally, we discuss the challenges of deploying AI/ML in real-time communication networks, including data requirements, computational complexity, and security vulnerabilities. Looking ahead, emerging technologies such as 6G, quantum-AI hybrids, and continual learning will further shape the future of intelligent communication systems, enabling self-optimizing and highly adaptive networks.
