Abstract

The introduction of AI and ML has changed communication networks, spurring innovation in electronic device design and development. These technologies provide data-driven insights, predictive modeling, and optimization to help engineers and researchers solve complicated problems. AI and ML provide intelligent analysis of system requirements, leading to more efficient and adaptable devices to changing user needs and environmental circumstances. This chapter examines how AI/ML affects antennas, signal processors, transceivers, and modems. AI methods automate noise reduction, spectrum allocation, and waveform optimization for advanced signal processing. To improve signal transmission and reduce interference, ML models optimize radiation patterns, gain, and bandwidth in antenna designs. AI/ML-enabled modulation and coding techniques boost data throughput and error correction. Real-world applications include AI-driven device customization for 5G and beyond, low-power IoT communication devices, and neural networks in self-optimizing systems. Generative AI for hardware co-design, reinforcement learning for adaptable algorithms, and federated learning for privacy-preserving communication are highlighted. Finally, the chapter tackles the obstacles and ethical issues, including the integration of AI/ML into resource-constrained devices, data security problems, and the necessity for sustainable methods in device production. By addressing these features, the chapter underlines how AI/ML works as a catalyst in transforming electronic device design, paving the way for smarter, more efficient, and robust communication systems of the future.
