Abstract

Microstrip patch antennas (MPAs), or more specifically planar MPAs, play a significant role in the field of electronics and communication engineering, particularly in the area of wireless communications. MPAs are present in the wireless devices, for transmission and reception of microwave signals. Researchers have developed MPAs of various shapes and sizes, from slotted antennas and monopoles to multiple-input multiple-output (MIMOs). Also, MPAs are categorized based on their operation modes, i.e., single band, multiband, wideband, ultra-wideband and super-wideband. In this chapter, an MPA resonating at 2.4 GHz is modeled and simulated in CST Microwave Studio Suite. Also, parametric studies are performed in order to analyze the antenna responses for different resonant frequencies.
