Epigenetic Regulation in the Signaling of Phytohormones and Plant Growth Regulators
Abstract
Phytohormones play a crucial role in plant growth, development and stress responses. Epigenetic mechanisms, including DNA methylation, histone modifications and non-coding RNAs, have emerged as crucial regulators of phytohormone and plant growth regulator (PGR) signaling pathways. Epigenetic regulation of phytohormone signaling pathways is crucial for plant development, including cell differentiation, organ formation and patterning. Phytohormones can regulate microRNA expression, which in turn affects gene expression by targeting phytohormone signaling components. This chapter discusses the current understanding of epigenetic regulation in phytohormone signaling, highlighting the role of plant growth regulators, phytohormone pathways and the crosstalk among them by exploring the existing scientific research. This knowledge can be leveraged to develop innovative strategies for plant growth regulation, stress management and agricultural sustainability.
