Abstract

Soil and water quality losses are one of the major concerning issues in the present scenario because they are directly or indirectly affecting global survival. Health of the environment and food security at the global scale can be affected by these losses and, hence, these losses need to be managed and monitored appropriately. Here comes the role of hydrological modeling, which is very important for the sustainable planning and management of land as well as water resources. The present study provides an insight into various hydrological models dealing with the quantification and management of land and water resources. This chapter delves into the detailed description of various hydrological models and their limitations. The major models included in the study are groundwater flow models, erosion models, evapotranspiration (ET) models, surface runoff models, watershed models, etc.
