Abstract

Creating cutting-edge nanomaterials for next-generation batteries has become an absolute necessity due to the lightning-fast advancements in energy storage technology. In this chapter, we explore how nanomaterials might improve battery performance due to their remarkable characteristics, such as their large surface area, improved electron transport, and adjustable electrochemical properties. Key issues, including energy density, cycle stability, and safety, are addressed by concentrating on the function of nanomaterials in solid-state, sodium-ion, and lithium-ion batteries. Enhancing their functionality in anodes, cathodes, and electrolytes is the goal of exploring innovative production processes and structural alterations of nanomaterials. The chapter also delves into new developments in nanomaterial-based batteries, such as 2D materials, quantum dots, and metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), and how they might change the game for large-scale energy storage, electric cars, and portable devices. Nanomaterials for broad battery applications should be commercialized and made as scalable and sustainable as possible in the future.
