Abstract

This chapter explores how digital technologies are reshaping the legal profession and the profound implications for its future. Artificial intelligence, blockchain, cloud platforms, and legal automation are transforming how legal services are delivered, how work is organized, and the competencies required of legal professionals. Yet progress has been uneven, with many adopting new tools cautiously and inconsistently. The chapter examines the drivers of disruption, the profession&s;s current position in its transformation journey, and the ethical, cultural, and skills-based challenges slowing adaptation. It evaluates the role of educators, professional bodies, and practitioners in advancing change and considers the risks of inaction, including declining efficiency, relevance, and public trust. Drawing on recent research and global developments, the chapter provides readers with insights into the strategies and commitments needed to ensure that the legal profession evolves purposefully in the digital era.
