Drilling Design
Abstract
Drilling fluids are typically formulated by mixing weight materials, filtrate loss control agents, pH stabilisers, viscosity modifiers, and corrosion inhibitors in water or oil. Understanding the properties of these chemical additives is crucial for achieving the desired performance of the drilling fluids. Additionally, a deep understanding of the geological formation and the chemical additives’ performance mechanisms enables the design of custom-tailored drilling fluids that ensure safe and efficient operations under specific drilling conditions.
