Abstract

In the past two decades, CO 2 mineralization has attained a global surge of interest as a promising method to reduce the carbon footprint of the cement industry. A multitude of laboratory research has been emerging in this realm which acts as a theoretical underpinning of the feasibility of CO 2 mineralization in commercial application. The most significant step is to take actions to apply CO 2 mineralization technology in industrial production, turning theory into a realistic solution. Over the past decade, some pioneer startups, spin-offs, and large corporations have initiated the first step to develop proprietary carbonate binder products or processes by utilizing CO 2 mineralization technologies worldwide.
