Abstract

The CO 2 mineralization of cement-based materials has been introduced in previous chapters, showing that all cement-based materials produce two main types of mineralization products during CO 2 mineralization: carbonates (including calcium carbonate, (CaCO 3 ) and magnesium carbonate (MgCO 3 ) and amorphous silica gel. The performance of CO 2 mineralized cement-based materials and products, particularly their microstructure, depends on the properties and effects of these mineralization products. Therefore, understanding these products is essential. In this section, we first introduce the properties and effects of CO 2 mineralized cement-based materials and products in detail. Subsequently, we review the current research progress on the distribution of CO 2 mineralization products and their influence on the microstructure of CO 2 mineralized materials and products.
