Vermicomposting
Abstract
Vermicomposting is an eco-friendly biotechnology that utilizes select earthworm species to convert organic waste into nutrient-rich vermicompost. Earthworms play a crucial role in decomposing organic matter and improving soil fertility. Vermicompost, rich in essential plant nutrients and beneficial microbes, serves as an excellent alternative to chemical fertilizers. Research highlights the importance of species selection, habitat management, and vermitechnology innovations for optimizing composting efficiency and addressing global agricultural challenges sustainably.
