Abstract

Work-life balance is an important topic that tends to be undermined in academic spheres. This chapter starts with a discussion on whether there is a barrier between work and life as an assistant professor on the tenure-track and what could be the strategies to implement such a barrier. Following this, methods to ensure recharging and why it is important are stressed. The importance of enjoyment in your work is further highlighted. Finally, managing social media is discussed in greater detail as it is an area where academics are increasingly engaged and they may further blur any barrier between work and life.
