Review of Peridynamics Modeling
Abstract
CCM is called the local theory, [ 142 , 227 , 230 ], where an assumption of locality is made, stating that the interaction between material points is limited to their immediate neighbors. This local nature of the theory implies that a material point only exchanges mass, momentum, and energy with its closest neighboring points. Consequently, the stress state at a point in classical theory is determined solely by the deformation at that specific point. While this assumption holds in many macroscopic scenarios, its validity becomes questionable as we explore different length scales.
