MidJourney Discord Commands
Abstract
This chapter provides an annotated guide to the key commands available in MidJourney’s Discord implementation, situating them as essential tools for structured AI-driven design workflows. The /imagine command is established as the central mechanism for text-to-image generation, while auxiliary commands such as /blend, /describe, and /tune expand creative strategies by enabling hybridization, reverse prompt engineering, and the cultivation of stylistic profiles. System-level controls, including /prefer remix, /prefer suffix, and /shorten, introduce efficiencies and stylistic coherence across iterative workflows, while administrative commands manage visibility, subscription, and GPU allocation. The chapter emphasizes the pedagogical significance of these commands, as they foster prompt literacy, reveal hidden syntactic structures, and cultivate an awareness of computational cost. Practical examples demonstrate their application in architectural contexts, from generating atmospheric concepts to refining stylistic fidelity and managing project consistency. By unpacking both the technical functions and their architectural implications, the chapter positions Discord commands not as peripheral features but as the grammar through which MidJourney’s generative logic is articulated, refined, and critically controlled.
