5G Network Security
Abstract
Fifth-generation cellular networks are already being deployed almost all over the world. They will obviously soon become an integral part of any digital society. However, many questions remain regarding the provision of reliable protection of user data, both in transit across networks and stored on servers. Therefore, the search for new mechanisms to continuously monitor and ensure the cybersecurity of operating 5G networks continues. Therefore, the purpose of this work was to demonstrate a generalized model for ensuring the cybersecurity of new-generation cellular networks using best practices and the latest technological solutions. This model is based on the use of network layers, for which it is necessary to ensure a certain level of both network characteristics and cybersecurity. By controlling this level, it is possible to avoid additional excess resources while maintaining a constant required level of these characteristics. However, to be able to maintain this level, it is necessary to properly design the network and develop the most suitable Network Service Templates (NESTs). For this, in turn, a consistent model of the selection of groups of subscribers, their services, network characteristics, and the corresponding formation of NEST based on them is proposed. This model was applied to develop NEST for specialized user groups in the Republic of Georgia.
