Abstract

Green technology is the science for the development and implementation of technologies with minimum harm to environment and assuring a better and sustainable future. It involves products, services, and practices with its theme conserving natural resources, reducing pollution, and thus mitigating climate change. Harnessing solar energy by photovoltaics is one of the green technologies with an everlasting source of energy. Recent technology has made it possible to introduce flexible photovoltaics as third-generation sources for generating green energy. More research in the field of material science leads to improved efficiency and sustainability of photovoltaics. The current chapter dives in with the study of advanced materials for photovoltaics, as well as substrate and different synthesis methods, such as the roll-to-roll printing, sputtering, spray coating, and vacuum deposition techniques for the synthesis of flexible photovoltaic devices. Further, the chapter deals with real-time application of the flexible photovoltaics with the current challenges and prospects addressed by the scientists and researchers to improve the efficiency and scale up the production.
