Abstract

Green synthesis using natural sources like plant extracts and microorganisms provides a sustainable alternative to conventional methods. The chapter emphasizes biocompatible metallic nanoparticles and their unique properties for diagnostics and therapeutics. It delves into green synthesis techniques, characterization, and applications, including targeted drug delivery, imaging, biosensing, and therapeutic interventions. The study highlights the advantages of plant-mediated synthesis for cost-effective production and pharmacological properties. Green nanotechnology, facing scale-up and purification challenges, gains traction due to reduced side effects. Examples include antiviral algae-synthesized silver and gold nanoparticles and enzyme use for enhanced stability. The chapter addresses biosynthesized nanomaterials in drug delivery for anticancer, antibiotic, and antidiabetic agents, as well as their potential as diagnostic, antimicrobial, anticancer, and wound-healing candidates.
