Abstract

This chapter examines how green chemistry principles and bioinspiration can be integrated into the synthesis and application of nanomaterials. It opens with an overview of traditional and green nanoparticle-synthesis methods, emphasizing the environmental and economic benefits of green approaches. The chapter then explores biomimetic strategies inspired by natural systems—including nacre, spider silk, and gecko feet—and their applications in drug delivery, sensing, and energy devices. Biogenic synthesis methods (plant-, microbial-, algae-, and honey-mediated) are reviewed, highlighting their relevance to sustainable nanotechnology. The chapter closes with examples of nature-inspired innovations in sensing and energy.
