Abstract

The integration of different renewable resources in the synthesis of nanomaterials has opened up a new avenue towards the development of sustainable green nanotechnology. Researchers have successfully utilized plant extracts, microorganisms, and agricultural and industrial wastes for the fabrication of high-quality nanoparticles and thereby reduced the environmental impact and curtailed conventional reliance on toxic reagents. Besides all the advancements, this chapter also highlights some essential synthetic challenges of nanoparticles, including scalability, reproducibility, stability, and toxicity-related issues, and attempts to explore recent promising approaches to overcome these problems. The chapter thus outlines the achievements attained in renewable resource-based nanomaterial synthesis and provides future strategies for the expansion of sustainable green nanotechnology and circular economy.
