Abstract

There is already a huge body of work about artificial intelligence (AI), its positive and inevitable value, as well as details from blogs and so on regarding models, prompting, algorithms, and coding. However, there is very little available for those who are non-technologists but who authorize, procure, and use AI in the private or public sectors. In this chapter, we lay out this topic in a unique manner. In addition to short overview of the long history of AI, readers get a glimpse into the AI logic and reasoning. This is important as any solution that will transform organizations, industries, countries, and even global society cannot be seen as a ‘Black Box.’ Issues about AI governance and tangible, measurable economic value are addressed at an appropriate layperson depth. This empowers readers with practical, working knowledge of the subject. Finally, an in-depth look at intentional or unintentional bias is reviewed. This is one of the major problems with AI solutions and all users need to understand this aspect of AI reasoning as it can cause inaccuracies in the output.
