Why Did the Data Deceive Me?

Big Data is the foundation for all AI products and solutions. If the data is not of high quality, the result of AI can be suboptimal at best and dangerous as worst. We addressed the data management issue in depth in our 2023 book, Navigating the Data Minefields: Management's Guide to Better Decision-Making . While we address many of these issues herein, we are not rewriting the previous volume. It is well worth reading this book which was also written with the non-technical individual in mind. AI solutions consume huge amounts of data from a variety of sources and quality levels. This can include legacy data from inside as well as outside the organization and in some cases with limited control by the user. As with all chapters, we offer documented use cases and a comical one in this chapter, the discovery of the Magdeburg Unicorn. Lessons applicable for everyday use immediately.
