A Comprehensive Review on Application of Artificial Intelligence for Sustainable Potato Farming and Future Scope
Abstract
This article attempts to give an in-depth analysis of the incorporation of artificial intelligence, or AI technologies, in the sustainable production of potatoes right from the planting to post-harvest procedures, its shortcomings, and future prospects. AI technologies, such as machine learning, sophisticated robots, advanced data analytics, and predictive systems, are becoming indispensable tools that improve agrarian efficacy, output, and sustainability in modern farming practices. AI algorithms can perform precision agriculture by optimizing the use of resources like soil, water, fertilizers, and pesticides. AI-driven robotics significantly reduce the need for manual labour by automating the crucial processes of potato planting and harvesting. Enhancing traceability, efficiency, and transparency, AI strengthens the supply chains for potatoes. AI algorithms can also predict future yields and market conditions by examining previous data on crop performances, weather outlines, soil conditions, and market demand. Despite the many advantages of AI, its application in agriculture is fraught with some difficulties. The high expense of technology, lack of relevant information, and the requirement for growers to undergo thorough instructions and training may prevent AI from being widely adopted. Future studies should therefore focus on creating reasonably priced AI solutions and thorough training curricula to optimize its potential to promote more sustainable food production on a global scale.
