Stereotactic Radiosurgery and Hypofractionated Stereotactic Radiotherapy for Gliomas
Abstract
Gliomas are a heterogenous group of central nervous system tumors (CNS) that arise from glial cells, which include oligodendrocytes, astrocytes, microglia, and ependymal cells. The cells serve degraded support and maintenance of the tumor microenvironment. These tumors are largely classified using the World Health Organization classification system [ 1 , 2 ]. This classification system underwent significant changes in both 2016 and 2021 versions, with a greater emphasis on molecular factors and elimination of the use of Roman numerals in favor of Arabic numerals.
