Abstract

A detailed understanding of the dielectric properties of materials is essential for the advancement of capacitors, sensors, and high-performance electronic and energy devices. Multifunctional materials such as BiVO 4 have received significant attention because of their excellent optical and electrical properties, particularly their dielectric behavior. In the present study, we report the complex dielectric function of BiVO₄ over a wide range of energies. The crystal structure and electronic properties of BiVO₄ emphasized its ability to store and release electrical energy efficiently. In addition, thermal stability and mechanical robustness play major roles in mechanical engineering applications, including other applications such as sensors, structural health monitoring systems, and energy harvesting systems. Here, we have focused on the potential impacts of the dielectric properties of BiVO₄ in those applications. Our findings suggest that the BiVO₄ could be used as a suitable candidate in the next generation of advanced mechanical devices.
