Abstract

WaveFlex biosensors, based on localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR), are emerging as powerful tools for healthcare applications due to their high sensitivity, rapid detection, and real-time monitoring capabilities. This chapter highlights the design and performance of WaveFlex biosensors for detecting key biomolecules and pathogens. The sensors utilize engineered advanced nanomaterials such as gold nanoparticles (AuNPs), zinc oxide nanowires (ZnO-NWs), and graphene oxide (GO)/multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) to enhance surface area and promote LSPR efficiency. Applications include detecting alanine aminotransferase (ALT) for liver dysfunction diagnosis, glyphosate herbicide in agricultural products, and pathogens like Shigella sonnei bacteria in food safety. WaveFlex biosensors offer advantages such as low detection limits, high specificity, and biocompatibility, making them versatile for healthcare diagnostics, environmental monitoring, and food safety assurance.
