Abstract

Pyridine (Py) is a basic heterocyclic organic compound and is derived from two components: “pyr”, which signifies “fire” and “idine”, which denotes “aromatic base”. It possesses an estimated dipole moment of 3.61 D and is fully soluble in water. Its derivatives exhibit a wide range of biomedical properties such as antitumor, analgesic, anti-inflammatory, antiviral, antibacterial, antifungal, antihistaminic, and antidiabetic effects, along with applications in bio-imaging [ 1 ]. Also, they are present in the structure of numerous products, such as vitamins, pharmaceuticals, insecticides, food flavorings, paints, adhesives, water-resistant textiles, and rubber goods [ 2 ]. The pyridine derivatives are illustrated in Scheme 1.1 .
