Abstract

The quality and efficacy of any natural compound is based on its extracts which are processed via various extraction techniques. This chapter explores how traditional and modern extraction techniques affect the extract quality as well as biological activity. Particular focus is given to how the choice of solvent, temperature, and extraction time can alter the composition and therapeutic potential of the final product. Additionally, various separation, evaluation, and quality control strategies are discussed as key steps in enhancing extract quality and standardization. By comparing different methods, this chapter highlights their respective advantages and limitations in preserving bioactive compounds and ensuring pharmacological efficacy. Overall, the chapter aims to provide an understanding of how optimized extraction and separation strategies are essential for developing high-quality, reproducible plant-based formulations for use in future drug discovery and many more.
