Abstract

The concept of maturity levels is a widely used approach to assess the readiness of a system or technology for deployment. These levels evaluate the system’s performance, reliability, and durability in its expected environment. In the context of human systems integration, maturity levels are used to assess the readiness of the system to operate within human capabilities and limitations. Several maturity levels are used in human systems integration, including human readiness levels (HRLs), technical readiness levels (TRLs), organizational readiness levels (ORLs), and gate reviews. These maturity levels can be used together to provide a comprehensive assessment of the readiness of a system or technology for deployment. For example, the HRLs can be used to assess the human usability of a technology, while the TRLs can be used to evaluate its technical maturity. The ORLs can determine an organization’s readiness to adopt the technology. In contrast, the gate reviews can be used to assess the readiness of the technology to move from one stage of development to another. Maturity levels are a valuable tool for assessing the readiness of a system, technology, and organization for deploying a product. Multiple maturity levels can comprehensively evaluate the system’s or technology’s readiness for deployment in a human-system integration context.
