Abstract

This chapter puts human beings in situations, whether in everyday life or enigmatic ones. Some are routines, and others are slightly different from what they know, but thanks to their experiences, they have enough know-how to handle them. Others are beyond understanding, puzzling. How do they perceive them? Which kind of awareness do they develop? How do they balance the consequences of different scenarios? It is an opportunity to investigate the universe of Systems Thinking and discover the Systems Tree framework (Daniel Allegro, B. (2013). Think Systems and Act Systems While Using Systems Engineering. ENSTA Paris), which I designed for training purposes. This framework aims to develop attitudes for understanding complex situations, discerning and coping with the unusual, discerning interwoven facts, and being capable of acting, keeping in mind a mid and long-term vision. Actions performed to solve complex situations rely on soft skills and hard skills such as cybernetics and general system theory. The Systems Tree integrates some of these soft skills (attitudes represented by the branches of the tree) with the System’s concepts (represented by the tree’s roots). This chapter aims to develop different ways to explore and wander in the Systems Tree , conscious of the Anti Tree (Daniel Allegro, 2013), the shadowy part of each of us.
