Mohr Circle
Abstract
The graphical representation of the state of stress through a circle was conceived by Karl Culmann in 1866 when studying the bending of beams. This engineer defined a pole on the circle, obtained the stresses on a general plane, and determined the stress trajectories for the bending of cantilever beams with a faithful reproduction of the algebraic analysis.
