Abstract

The current chapter introduces the concept of Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) and explains its key concepts. The primary categories of generative AI models that are the subject of this study include Diffusion Models, Transformer-based Models, Variational Autoencoders (VAEs), and Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs). Each of these techniques is explained in simple terms to show how they help machines generate realistic images, videos, text, and more. The chapter also elaborates on a wide range of applications of generative AI. These include image translation, where AI changes one type of image into another; video synthesis, where machines can create video content; natural language processing, where AI helps generate human-like text and conversations; and generates knowledge graphs and changes unorganized text into structured information. Examine the applications of generative AI in numerous domains, for instance, science, art, healthcare, and education. The chapter highlights both the amazing progress made so far and the challenges researchers still face, such as improving accuracy, reducing bias, and using these tools responsibly. Overall, this chapter gives a clear and friendly guide to understanding how generative AI works and why it matters.
