Abstract

This chapter introduces community networked microgrids (CNMs), a decentralized, cooperative energy-sharing architecture designed explicitly to revive traditional community resource management principles, such as collective governance, mutual trust, and local autonomy. It is a transformative approach for community-oriented energy management, which integrates Internet of Things (IoT)-driven real-time monitoring, decentralized control algorithms, and blockchain technology to ensure automated, secure, and transparent peer-to-peer energy exchanges. We experimentally validated CNMs through a testbed, and initial experimental results confirmed its practical feasibility in facilitating energy sharing while balancing the battery state of charge.
