Optimizing kerf width and material removal rate in laser beam cutting of Inconel: A multi-objective approach
Abstract
Laser beam cutting (LBC) is such a novel machining technology, getting it just right is essential for decreasing costs and saving time. The presence of two separate quality metrics kerf width (Kw) and metal removal rate (MRR) often necessitates a multi-objective optimization strategy when dealing with machine issues. A cut component's ideal performance is best achieved by minimizing its Kw value, whereas MRR maximization is always the preferred choice. These two properties are intended to be optimized concurrently in the proposed endeavor. The LBC process has been studied in literature as a problem of optimizing a single aim on several occasions. So, as an objective function, they aimed to maximize the Material Removal Rate (MRR) or minimize the Kerf Width (KW). There is no one best way to complete a machining process when both objectives are considered. In this research, we optimize the Inconel output responses by evaluating the process parameters and cutting the material with a laser. Finding the optimal values for the process variables is the primary objective.
