Performance Improvement of Steam Condenser employed in Thermal Power Plant Using ANSYS Analysis
Abstract
In the present, the world's industrial sector is expanding at an accelerated rate, which is fueling the rising demand for energy. The main goal of this study is to conduct performance analysis of the surface condenser with the aim of increasing efficiency. Performance calculations were performed under different scenarios using operational data collected from the power plant's records. A study of air ingress and fouling was also carried out, and the results showed a drop in condenser efficiency that was probably caused by a tiny rise in condenser pressure. Numerical analysis was made for flow rate 44310 m 3 /hr. In order to improve a condenser setup's baffles are employed. By expanding the surface area of heat transmission and enhancing fluid mixing, resulting in a more even distribution of temperature and a reduction in the occurrence of stagnant zones. Additionally, the presence of baffles helps lessen problems like vibration and tube fouling, extending the condenser's operating life. Numerical analysis of baffles has also been carried out. This study emphasizes the importance of interior design elements like baffles and operational factors in enhancing heat transfer efficiency for better performance of the condenser.
