Abstract

The rising number of road accidents, especially motorcycle accidents, underscores the urgent need for enhanced safety measures. A significant portion of these accidents result from inadequate helmet usage, with an alarming 90% of helmets in India being deemed faulty. To address this issue, this study employs modeling of helmet in SOLIDWORKS and simulation software to analyze helmet performance under various conditions, such as bottom-fixed and side-fixed loads. Adhering to the Bureau of Indian Standards, maximum force tolerance of 19.5 kilo-Newton's, the study evaluates factors like deformation, stress, and cost-effectiveness to identify optimal materials. Furthermore, by integrating IoT technology, the study ensures helmet compliance through real-time monitoring and enforcement mechanisms, such as sensors that detect helmet usage and prevent vehicle ignition if the rider is non-compliant, thereby mitigating head injuries.
