Abstract

Ensuring the authenticity of medical devices is critical for patient safety and combating the growing issue of counterfeit equipment in healthcare supply chains. This paper proposes a blockchain-based verification framework that integrates QR code technology to provide secure, decentralized tracking of medical device ownership. The system enables end-users and healthcare providers to scan QR codes affixed to devices and instantly verify their authenticity through blockchain-stored records. Experimental evaluations demonstrated a high scanning accuracy of 98.7%, average verification times of under 1.8 seconds, and robust resistance to tampering, showcasing the system's practicality and efficiency. The approach not only enhances transparency and accountability across the medical device supply chain but also safeguards sensitive ownership data through advanced cryptographic protocols. By combining blockchain's decentralized architecture with the simplicity of QR code integration, the framework offers a scalable and cost-effective solution for strengthening trust in healthcare systems and mitigating the risks posed by counterfeit medical devices.
