Conclusion
Abstract
This chapter discusses the trends and issues discussed in this book for the development of mega complex LNG projects throughout their life-cycle. As the use of natural gas continues to grow, these issues and challenges will also lead to encounters and uncertainty for organisations constructing these massive ventures. By examining the LNG project life-cycle through the previous chapters, from its initiation (Assess phase) to the commissioning phase (Operate/Evaluate and CAPEX closeout), there are several potential pitfalls that seem to get ignored as these large LNG project developments move through the life-cycle phases. Addressing these pitfalls will not only offer a benchmarking framework but also provide valuable insights into improving the execution and management of mega complex LNG projects. This methodology involves evaluating their performance against established standards or best practices at various stages (phases) of development, construction, and handover to operations. This process helps identify Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats (SWOT) for improvement. The SWOT analysis provides valuable insights and develops strategies to leverage strengths, address weaknesses, capitalise on opportunities, and mitigate threats. Mega LNG projects, characterised by their complexity and scale, present unique challenges that can lead to pitfalls if not managed effectively. It will suggest why organisations developing mega LNG projects necessitate a paradigm shift in organisational approach and mindset. Traditional management methods often fall short when used, as they are unable to address the complexities and scale associated with developing these multifaceted LNG projects.
