2D-Materials-Based Wearable Biosensor Systems
Abstract
Two-dimensional (2D) materials have gained much attention over the past few decades because of their exceptional chemical, physical, and optical characteristics, which are helpful in various applications. 2D materials are employed in an extensive array of sensing applications; a surge in wearable biosensors has recently been observed. Wearable biosensor development has ushered in a new era of personalized health care and real-time physiological monitoring. Within this paradigm, 2D materials-based wearable biosensors have emerged as game-changing components due to their unique properties, that is, lightweight, flexibility, mechanical stability, sensitivity, accuracy, and remarkable biocompatibility. This chapter overviews the essence of 2D material-based wearable biosensors, including their development, capabilities, sensing principles, and applications. In addition, it also covers the recent advances in wearable biosensors based on 2D materials. Lastly, we provide comprehensive insights into the current challenges and future perspectives surrounding the development of 2D materials and their biosensors. In a nutshell, the chapter offers better insights into the design of 2D sensors and guides the proper integration and deployment of developing 2D materials in the realm of biosensors, thereby magnifying their potential across a wide range of applications.
