Abstract

Biosensors combine a biological component with a transducer to detect and measure specific analytes. 3D printing technology has shown great potential in developing biosensors for various applications. Integrating 3D printing with biosensor technology allows for the fabrication of complex and customised structures with precise control over geometry and functionality. These technologies have the potential to revolutionise biosensor manufacturing and enable the development of advanced biomedical devices and constructs. 3D-printed biosensors have found applications in various fields, including medicine, health monitoring, and wound healing, and potential uses in the agriculture and food industry include ensuring food safety, food analysis, and electrochemical sensing. This chapter provides an in-depth exploration of the 3D printing technology used in biosensor development, multidisciplinary coverage with a comprehensive overview of the application of 3D-printed biosensors in the food safety, agriculture, and healthcare sectors, tackles emerging trends, and explores prospects for 3D-printed biosensors in food safety, agriculture, and healthcare. This chapter might be a valuable resource for 3D printing professionals and biosensor industry stakeholders interested in the future of 3D printing technology and biosensor integration in various sectors.
