Abstract

Graphene, known for its exceptional properties, has revolutionized sensing technologies across sectors like COVID-19 detection, environmental monitoring, biomedical applications, wearable tech, and food safety. The chapter explores the key role of graphene-based sensors in addressing global challenges. For COVID-19 detection, they offer swift and sensitive approaches, aided by principles like surface functionalization and molecular recognition. These sensors also detect pollutants in air and water systems, aiding pollution control. In biomedicine, they enable sensitive biomolecule detection for personalized medicine and diagnostics. Wearable sensor design principles facilitate their integration into remote health monitoring systems. Moreover, graphene sensors ensure food safety by detecting contaminants in food products. The chapter underscores the need for continued research and innovation in harnessing graphene’s full potential to address global challenges in healthcare, environmental sustainability, and food security.
