Application of Ceramics in Sensors and Batteries
Abstract
Ceramics are unique materials that possess physical and chemical properties that make them ideal for use in sensors and batteries. Gas sensors use ceramics as sensitive and selective materials to find out poisonous and flammable gases in industrial and environmental settings. In combustible materials and electrochemical sensors, ceramics are utilized as electrode materials, resulting in higher efficiency and improved performance. Moreover, ceramics are utilized as electrode materials in solid electrolyte batteries, providing several advantages over traditional liquid electrolyte batteries, including enhanced safety and higher energy density. Piezoelectric ceramics are widely used in pressure sensors and ultrasound imaging, while superconducting ceramics are used in high-energy storage applications. The versatility of ceramics makes them a valuable material in various industries. Research into ceramics is ongoing, with new and innovative technologies being developed. These advancements can upgrade the performance and efficiency of existing sensors and batteries, as well as create new opportunities for industries such as electric vehicles, portable electronics, and renewable energy systems. Ultimately, ceramics continue to demonstrate their potential for use in future technologies, and researchers are working to unlock new applications of this versatile material.
