Information and Optimal Representation
Abstract
Information is abstract and perceived by the observer, but it is expressed in physical structures ( Landauer, 1996 ) and this latter aspect opens it for novel techniques of analysis. Representation theory is concerned with how information may be coded when considering it in a very general mathematical setting so that the analysis is of relevance not only to physics and biology but also to economics, finance, networking, social sciences, and biomedical applications.
