Abstract

Concerns about environmental degradation and resource depletion have increased the hunt for sustainable energy sources. This article examines the Life Cycle Sustainability Analysis (LCSA) of wood refuse pyrolysis for energy generation as it is and with integrated energy systems. Wood refuse from forest residues, construction debris, and urban green trash is a promising energy source due to its quantity and renewable nature. Combustion, gasification, and pyrolysis can turn wood residue into energy. Pyrolysis, a thermochemical conversion process that turns wood waste into bio-oil, syngas, and biochar, is a cleaner and more efficient alternative to combustion or gasification. The LCSA of Energy Production from Wood Waste via pyrolysis assesses the environmental implications from feedstock extraction to energy generation up to byproduct disposal. This analysis considers greenhouse gas emissions, resource use, and ecosystem implications. Pyrolysis-based energy production produces less carbon and air pollution than fossil fuels. The integrated energy system combines pyrolysis with other renewable energy sources, storage technologies, and management systems. This approach boosts energy efficiency, waste reduction, and system resilience. Pyrolysis technology combined with solar panels, wind turbines, or energy storage can provide more reliable and sustainable electricity. The Life Cycle Sustainability Analysis of wood waste pyrolysis and integrated energy systems explains the environmental, economic, and social impacts of this renewable energy pathway. The findings show that pyrolysis can be a cleaner energy source and that integrated approaches are needed to produce resilient and environmentally friendly energy systems for a sustainable future.
