Modelling and numerical simulation of domestic electrical induction cooker using Chebfun for uniform temperature distribution on working plate
Abstract
Injera, a popular fermented flatbread from Ethiopia and other regions, presents a challenge for conventional induction cookers. Its large diameter and uniformly thin profile lead to uneven cooking due to non-uniform temperature distribution. Traditional cooking utensils like the Mitad, heated by firewood or electric coils, are less energy-efficient. This study explores an induction heating method using a non-uniform winding coil design to attain a uniform distribution of temperature on the cooking surface for optimal Injera preparation. By solving Maxwell’s equations and the Poisson equation in cylindrical co-ordinates using Chebfun software, the proposed non-uniform winding pattern demonstrates superior performance in achieving uniform temperature distribution compared to a uniform winding coil. This method offers a promising approach for efficient and even Injera cooking.
