Abstract

This chapter describes one generic mechanism for the birth or destruction of equilibria. Such bifurcations are ubiquitous in neural models. They involve the coalescence of a node and a saddle point. The chapter also illustrates how bifurcation diagrams can be used to summarize behaviors over a full range of parameter values.
