Abstract

Chapter two of the book presents the fundamental concepts in engineering. It begins with an introduction to engineering from multiple perspectives, including its relationship with geometry and its interpretation as an art. The chapter then explains key engineering concepts, such as systems and their types, including linear and nonlinear, chaotic and stochastic, and unstable systems, along with types of mathematical and physical propositions. In the following section, general principles and frameworks of engineering are discussed, including engineering patterns and methodologies such as the cascade technique, reducibility, generality, extrapolation and abstraction. The chapter concludes with an exploration of one of the most important engineering concepts: types of errors, accuracy, precision, and approximation.
