Abstract

The transition from 5G to 6G networks presents new challenges and opportunities, with artificial intelligence (AI) playing a key role in enhancing automation, optimization, and security. AI-driven solutions will be crucial for integrating terahertz (THz) communications, reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (RIS), and non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) into 6G networks. THz communication faces challenges like high path loss and limited range, which AI-powered beamforming, channel estimation, and adaptive modulation can mitigate. AI-driven RIS will enhance network performance by optimizing signal quality and reducing interference, while AI-based power allocation and interference management will improve NOMA efficiency. Security concerns in 6G stem from decentralized architectures and a vast number of connected devices. AI-powered anomaly detection, intrusion prevention, and federated learning will safeguard networks by enabling autonomous threat detection. Additionally, AI will drive advancements in intelligent transportation, smart cities, healthcare, and industrial automation, supporting real-time traffic management, remote patient monitoring, and process optimization. Despite its potential, AI integration faces challenges like data privacy, computational complexity, and energy efficiency. Future research in edge AI, quantum-assisted AI, and federated learning will ensure AI-driven 6G networks achieve intelligence, efficiency, and reliability, paving the way for a hyper-connected future.
